How rewards accrue

Staking rewards on Solana are tied to epochs. This page explains the reward cycle and the two ways you can exit a position.

Epochs and reward cycles

Solana time is divided into epochs, each lasting roughly two days. Validators produce blocks and earn rewards over the course of an epoch, and staking rewards are distributed at epoch boundaries.

For liquid staking, you do not need to track epochs yourself. Rewards accumulate in the pool and are reflected automatically in JSOL's growing value. See JSOL and APY.

Instant versus delayed unstaking

JPool's liquid staking strategies offer two ways to convert JSOL back to SOL:

  • Instant unstaking returns your SOL right away for a higher fee. It draws on the pool's liquid reserves, so your SOL arrives in your wallet shortly after you confirm.
  • Delayed unstaking waits until the end of the current epoch and returns your SOL for a lower fee. This routes through the standard Solana withdrawal path.

Choose instant when you need SOL immediately and are willing to pay more; choose delayed when you can wait until the epoch ends and prefer a lower fee.

INFO

  • Native Staking works differently: it has no instant option. Because SOL is delegated directly to a validator, unstaking follows the standard Solana deactivation period of about one epoch (~2 days).
  • A small fee may apply to unstaking. Current fees are listed on the pool info page.
